Be Inspired  blessedride

There is always a Blessing

Welcome to blessedride.com. This blog is about a young woman who lives with a learning difference known as NVLD (Nonverbal Learning Disorder).  Life is like riding a horse from her perspective. There are challenges, falls and accomplishments, yet she has found blessings in all of those circumstances. I am that woman, my name is Meghan and it is a pleasure to share my ride with you. I hope that you enjoy the blessings that have come from it, and will be inspired to find your own.

Horse farms always provided a soothing environment. I remember that as a child, nothing made me happier than to see horses romping in their pastures, and inhaling the scents of earth and hay. The comfort was so contagious, that it spread and opened doors for my outgoin...

I remember that the horses taught me an important skill during our riding lessons. There were times when I was challenged as a rider, and this put me in a conflict with the horse. My responsibility was to assert my leadership during those circumstances. In doing s...

Horses have a way of bringing out the vulnerability in their riders. I remember that during my horseback riding days, nothing about me was hidden. For an example, when my instructor suggested that we do a canter on the lunge line, I had to put my foot down and say...

During my horseback riding days, I found that the easiest way for me to excel, was to focus on what I was good at before pushing myself to pursue a new activity in horseback riding. For an example, I was good at steering a horse by myself through an obstacle cours...

Back in my riding days, I used to always end up with horses that had a workable demeanor, yet they were always testing me as an authority figure. "Why?" I used to wonder to myself. "Why can I just have one horse that is easy to work with?" The reality is that eve...

The family has been through numerous changes since my last post. One of those changes was saying goodbye to my brother Matt on March 17th,  and now he is a recruit training to be a marine. Like most families going through this ordeal, the separation, uncertainty...

My precious Duke,

Today I was contemplating a Thanksgiving related blog. I thought about the obvious things that I’m thankful for such as family, friends and people who have touched my life. Then there was the thought of writing about a horse, since I have not blogged a...

Wow it has been almost three months since my last post, To be honest, the reason was that I was questioning if this blog was worth it. Ratings or attention was not the reason for my pondering, it was wondering if people were touched by my blog posts. I did not hav...

I try to be kind as much as possible, but I will admit that were times when I was an impatient diner, or got annoyed when someone in customer service was short with me. Then I got a job as a box office agent at a local theatre this past summer, and man did I get a...

Do you ever have those moments when you have pushed a challenge aside, but then it mysteriously comes up? You are shocked yet humbled by the experience. That is was a blessing that happened to me last night, I was at a service group that I attend every Wednesday....
